We're a small, family-run retreat on the land we've farmed for four generations — built slowly, by hand, for people who want to slow down too.
It started with a quiet field and a stubborn idea.
For four generations, our family has farmed this corner of Galloway — a landscape of rolling fields, ancient woodland and wide-open skies above Port William. As farming evolved, we saw an opportunity to diversify while sharing a place we have always called home.
Rather than change the landscape, we created places to stay that sit gently within it. What began with our first glamping pods has grown into a collection of thoughtfully designed pods and luxury cabins, each offering guests the chance to slow down, reconnect with nature and experience the peace of rural Galloway.
Today, Galloway Retreats is home to eleven unique retreats, but our ethos remains the same: warm hospitality, considered comfort and a genuine connection to the land. Still family-owned and set on our working farm, we invite you to experience the beauty, tranquillity and dark skies that make this part of Scotland so special.

Three things guide everything we do.
Quiet over noise
No reception desk, no crowds, no schedule. We design for stillness — the rarest luxury there is.
Craft over convenience
Every Pod and Cabin has been thoughtfully designed with quality, comfort and longevity in mind.
Light on the land
Solar, battery and air-source heat. We tread as lightly as we can on the place that gives us everything.
A small team who live on site.
Ian Galloway
Third-generation farmer, still out in the fields every morning before the day begins. Ian looks after the land that makes Galloway Retreats so special, balancing farming with caring for the place guests come to escape to.
Lorraine Galloway
The creative eye behind Galloway Retreats. From interiors and guest experience to the thoughtful finishing touches, Lorraine ensures every stay feels warm, considered and memorable.
Fraser Galloway
Representing the next generation of the family, Fraser works across both the farm and Galloway Retreats. Whether he's helping care for the land, improving the site or welcoming guests, he's passionate about preserving the family's legacy while shaping its future.
Luxury that treads lightly.
We believe great hospitality should work with nature, not against it. We're continually investing in more sustainable ways of running Galloway Retreats — from generating renewable energy on the farm to heating our hot tubs with air-source heat pumps. As a working family farm, caring for this landscape isn't a trend; it's how we've lived for generations.
